Full time tutor and freelance musician, Docklands based guitarist John Wilmshurst has taught, toured and recorded throughout the UK and overseas for over 12 years, having performed in numerous venues such as the O2 and NEC.
He can still be seen on music channels on SKY TV, continues to receive worldwide airplay and is an endorsee of 'Rotosound Strings' and 'RJM music tech'.
He is also a signed, published composer who writes/records for TV, film and other media.
Originally from East Anglia, the Academy of Contemporary Music graduate set up his own successful guitar tuition studio in Suffolk, which he ran for 10 years. With the demand of live/studio work, John moved to London in 2010.
He is a 'first call' lead tutor for Suffolk, Essex, Reading, Wokingham and Surrey Councils and also runs a series of music therapy workshops for those with special educational needs in Berkshire and East Anglia.
His approach to teaching is fun, relaxed and completely tailored to the students requirements and his versatility as a musician enables him to teach many styles in his unique, 'easy to understand' manner.
John can take you from the very beginning through to performance level and brings with him a wealth of 'on the road' experience, combining the theory of structured study with the practicality of 'just playing your heart out'.
Whether you want to study acoustic or electric guitar, blues, rock, punk, funk, country, pop or jazz, John can help you - just for fun, or graded examinations. You can view his portfolio here and his teaching CV here.
